Maybe the most complex album so far from Indigo Jam Unit – a set that draws amazing energy from the group’s two drummers, rounded out by some wonderfully bold acoustic bass, topped with full-on piano lines too! The bass lines alone are worth the price of admission – right up there with Tribe/Low End Theory sort of energy – the kind you can never isolate this well on a standard album of jazz or funk, especially the latter, where acoustic is never used in this way. The group are way more than jazz or funk, too – with a sound that’s sometimes bold, sometimes lyrical, and always served up with their trademark spare but forceful instrumentation!
